“Mein’s current body of work is a profound exploration of the natural and found materials of her local environment. Utilizing earth pigments from crumbling hillsides, oak galls and pomegranates from her own land, and plastic detritus collected along the coast, she creates pieces that embody deep connection to place. Lake clay, driftwood and other found elements are meticulously integrated into both two and three dimensional forms. Through this nesting and documenting process, Mein invites viewers to develop a heightened appreciation for the natural world and the raw material it offers.” – 1202 Contemporary
